IN123 Large-scale community service - "Myogenic Everywhere, Love Everywhere"

Event Detail

On 16 September 2017, IN123 led more than 100 volunteers to go to Heung To Secondary School (Tseung Kwan O) to create a caring and loving day for 30 muscular dystrophy patients family in total 55 people.

In 2014, because of the "ice bucket challenge", Hong Kong people have more knowledge and concern for patients with muscular dystrophy. However, they are minority people and are more likely to be ignored by the society. The government does not have much funding. They still face many difficulties and challenges, such as Mr. Wu and his wife have a 6 years old son with spinal muscular atrophy. The son attended primary one of the special school this year. However, due to traffic problems and physical condition, he could only go to school for three days a week. He had not been able to go to school because he could not find a car. He had made many appointments for Rehabus in the past but not successful.

At the event, there were also patients sharing the positive energy of their perseverance. Josy Chow, who is studying two major subjects in the Department of English and Linguistics at the University of Hong Kong, can only be moved by the right index finger. Doing the homework and collecting information are all using the one finger, although she had to take three to four weeks to complete her two thousand to three thousand words assignment. She was very tired during the process, but with the support and encouragement of her mother, she persisted.

At the event, IN123 prepared a wonderful performance and played games with everyone, full of joy and high energy. Patients with muscular dystrophy are also working together with volunteers to make cards to express the words of gratitude to those who have been caring for them. The scene is very warm and touching.

IN123 raised HK$250,000 donations and was reported by different media to let more people in the society know and pay attention to them and create more support and resources for them.

IN123 also has a lot of learning from it. In the process of contributing to a group of positive and strong service target, feeling full love and positive energy in them, and they overcome all difficulties with a determined will. In the process of preparation, IN123 also learned how to focus on the outside, play the strength of the team, and create the most abundant results.
