Event Detail

On 31 March, IN130 led 70 volunteers and singer Ms. Mag Lam to Lam Tsuen to send love and care to 30 patients with mucopolysaccharidoses and rare diseases, and to support the families of patients and arouse more social concern.

In 2017, with a population of 7.3 million in Hong Kong and there are only 35 patients with mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS), mucopolysaccharidoses is a rare and congenital metabolic abnormality with 7 diseases. The cause is the lack of enzymes that can break down mucopolysaccharides, so the mucopolysaccharide accumulates, affecting the normal function of the cells, destroying multiple organs of the body, including the heart, bones, joints, respiratory system, and nervous system. Although the disease may not be obvious at birth, as the age increases, the cells become continously damaged causing symptoms and signs. Most patients with mucopolysaccharidosis live less than 20 years old.

Drugs to heal Patients with mucopolysaccharidosis are expensive and can reach millions dollars a year. The government's subsidies will also have different restrictions. Some patients cannot get proper drugs and their condition become worsen. Patients will also be easily discriminated because of their illness. They dare not think about their dreams, so they need the support and care from the community.

On the same day, the singer Ms. Mag Lam and Shadow also attended the event. Besides the performances, they took photos with everyone and plotted the vision graph together to let more people understand the inner world of the patients. At the same time, through Easter, they made Easter eggs together, enhancing festival atmosphere. They also play games together and they are happy.

The event also invited media to report to let more people know about rare patients. At the same time, IN130 exerted its enrollment power in a short period of time to raise nearly 220,000 Hong Kong dollars. In the process of organizing, IN130 learns the power of unity to create differences, while simply trusting and serving more people with love.
