Event Detail
On 7 October, IN124 led more than one hundred volunteers to the Yuen Long Grill to serve 75 people with Parkinson's disease and physically handicapped families, totally 110 people. It has created a joy, warmth and high energy day for the service target. They have played their most energetic and beautiful side, and together creating a world of great love, harmony and joy!
Parkinson's disease is a chronic brain nerve tissue degenerative disease. It is caused by the deterioration of the part called "substantia nigra" in the brain stem, which leads to the failure to produce enough neurotransmitter "dopamine" to make the brain impaired the function of controlling muscle activity. The patient's hands and feet will continue to have uncontrolled tremors and become stiff, slow-moving, difficult to balance, and have more talking and swallowing problems. At present, there is still no cure for Parkinson's disease. It can only relieve symptoms and slow down the rate of illness through medical treatment, physical therapy or expensive surgery.
IN124 deliberately chose "Park friends" and physically handicapped people to be the service target, in order to care for and enhance the society's concern for them. On the same day, they took "Park friends" to the outside to breathe fresh air, and spread the body through a balloon game and other inclusive games. There were also wonderful performances and interactive sessions such as Cantonese opera, piano, and Eight Trigrams Palm. "Park friends" and the physically handicapped people also performed Tai Chi and wheelchair dance respectively. They also shared their speeches and made the different people in the community learn, support and encourage each other. The venue is very energetic and joyful! Each service target also received beautiful photos and abundant blessing bag as a commemoration!
IN124 has raised a total of $200,000 for Invision Charity Foundation, Hong Kong Parkinson's Disease Association and the Hong Kong Rehabilitation Power to benefit more people.
They have a lot of learning in this service, which not only deepens their understanding of Parkinson's disease, but also learns to love, cherish and be strong on the service target. In the process of preparation, we also learned to focus on the outside, exert team spirit, complement each other, input our best qualities, using contribution as the starting point to create the most fruitful results!
