"Under the Same Roof" was grandly held on May 26, 2018. The IN Volunteer Group and the nearly 400 participants worked together to create the Guinness world record for the largest lip prints. Through this event, the community has attracted attention from people with rare diseases and support.
"Under the Same Roof" is one of the three major activities of the IN Volunteer Group every year. This year has come to the fifth session. Every year, we are all in the same sky. Everyone is equal, creating the direction of social integration, holding different themes. Activities include experiencing the lives of people with disabilities and supporting people with disabilities. This year, we created a new Guinness World Record through Lip Print with the theme of "Love not Rare", which aroused everyone's love for rare patients.
According to the standards of the World Health Organization, only 6.5-10 cases per 10,000 people are classified as rare diseases. Every year, there are new cases of rare diseases in Hong Kong. The rare diseases that many people know include mucopolysaccharidosis, Pompe disease, muscular dystrophy, etc. Although the number of cases is small, it poses a serious health threat to patients. Put a heavy burden on the caregiver. At present, the prevention and protection of rare diseases in Hong Kong is far behind the gap between Europe, America and Asia. The Government has not yet established a clear definition of the rare diseases and has not formulated relevant medical and support policies. The public and even some health care workers and social workers are also very lacking in their knowledge of rare diseases.
On Saturday, IN brought along with friends and family and rare patients to Kwai Chung and divided them into different groups to print lip prints on the cloth with different colors of lipstick. On the same day, the former Hong Kong TV journalist and anchor, Ms.Jo Ngai, was invited as the event ambassador and Mr.Hugh Wong, one of the members of the powerful band "MGCY". Ms.Chan Wai Yin, the Institutional communications manager of the Equal Opportunities Commission, and Mr.Tinly Wong, the director of Invision charity foundation Ltd, and Dr.Tsang King Timax, the chairman of Invision charity foundation Ltd, kicked off the event. The foundation also provide health care voucher to patients with rare diseases.
In the end, it took nearly 6 hours to complete a large lip print of more than 231 square meters. In addition to the lip and heart-shaped pattern, there is also the word "LOVE NOT RARE".
Thanks to all the efforts, every lip print represents a love. We get more attention and support for rare diseases. This fruitful achievement depends on every volunteer, thanks to your support.
