On October 27, 2018, IN138 led nearly 100 volunteers to create a care, connected, joyful day for 105 people with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers.

These families are facing heavy pressures such as finance and discrimination. As the society keeps enhancing, it begins to gain more understanding and support to patients with disabilities and rare diseases. This IN138 social service brings us to see another batch that is easily overlooked, but also need to be cared for - the caregiver.

As caregivers, they do not only face verbal and financial pressure, but also physical and emotional needs when taking care for the patients. Therefore, IN138 deliberately cooperated with The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council to hold a large-scale event “Love – Caregiver”, paying tribute to them caregivers by letting them temporarily relax and enjoy the activities.

The theme of the event was masquerade which letting the intellectual disabilities and their carers made up and took pictures. There were also many booth activities and performances to let everyone got involved and had a great time.

At the same time, volunteers also actively concerned and understand the challenges faced by caregivers on a daily basis. During the conversation, volunteers were touched by more positive attitude and perseverance of the caregivers.

In this event, IN138 raised more than 150,000 Hong Kong dollars, and a lot of materials such as suits, evening dressing, accessories, cosmetics, household items, stationery, etc., which made the event excellent and rich. In the fundraising process, IN138 members learned the power of unity, clearance of goals, focusing on giving, can lead to unlimited possibilities, and also grateful that they have the ability to learn and choose to try the best to let themselves grow.
