Forty-eight disabled children and adolescents from grassroots families in Hong Kong will take the first flight on 9 December to experience flying and start a three-day, two-night trip to Tainan. "Fly for Love 2017" is a charity flight for disabled families to realize their flying dream. It is organised by the "IN Volunteer Group" in Hong Kong. In addition to disabled children, the event ambassadors Bowie Lam and Catherine Chau, accompanying medical team and service volunteers accompanied and supported, nearly 170 people participated.

The service target of the activity is mainly the disabled children and adolescents from grassroots families who have never taken a plane. Those who meet the requirements and their parents are required to meet and select from the committee to confirm their eligibility. "Fly for Love 2017" has a total of 50 disabled children from 11 schools, including LoveXpress, Ebenezer School, Hong Kong Red Cross John F.Kennedy Centre, Hong Kong Red Cross Princess Alexandra School, Hong Kong Red Cross Margaret Trench School, Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association, SAHK Jockey Club Elaine Field School, SAHK B M Kotewall Memorial School, The Hong Kong Society for the Deaf - Parents Resource Centre, Haven of Hope Sunnyside School, TWGHs Kwan Fong Kai Chi School. During the interview, some students expressed that they would like to look at the clouds on the plane while some wanted to taste the meal on plane. They were very excited about the flight.

Looking forward to eating a plane meal

Bowie Lam said: "It is so happy to join this meaningful activity, even if you are busy, you should take some time to be volunteer. Catherine Chau said, “Looking forward to having 2 or 3 times as many children in the future can participate in this activity, but not only for 50 children. Hope that more charitable institutions can promote this kind of activity.” Catherine states that Bowie and her will play happily with the children during the journey and bring them joy.

The organizer "IN Volunteer Group" is part of the Invision Charity Foundation, which brings together a group of young leaders, through organizing different types of large-scale community services, to provide more attention and care to the socially disadvantaged community. Dr. Chris Lam, director of Invision Charity Foundation, expressed the hope that by assisting disabled children from grassroots families to realize their dreams of flying can give them strength and encourage them to go on the road of life in the future, and to practice their dreams.

Sunny Fok, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong IN Volunteer Group, said that it takes a lot of time and resources to prepare for such a large-scale flight. Although the process is hard, every year, seeing the children's excitement and smiles on the plane, everything is worthwhile. The event was supported by various institutions in Hong Kong and Taiwan, including event sponsorship, airfare, hotel, transportation and attraction ticket discounts or fee waivers, and even schedules arrangement. The main supporting units include Tourism Bureau, Republic of China (Taiwan), Tainan Toursim Bureau, Kaohsiung International Airport, Tainan Airport, China Airlines, Tsou Ma Lai Farm, Tainan Special School etc.
